Ascendis Health

Skills Development

Ascendis Health group recognises the importance of education and skills development in battling the rising unemployement in South Africa.  The Ascendis Health Group provides opportunities to previously disadvantaged individuals and supports the South Africa imperatives through its unemployed learnership programmes and its partnership with the Youth Employment Services (Y.E.S) of South Africa.

In the 2022/2023 financial year, the Group focused on the education of 200 unemployed learnerships. These learners studied towards qualifications in chemical operations (NQF 2 and NQF 3) and business administration, while earning a monthly stipend.

There are also currently 43 Ascendis Health employees who have been awarded learnerships in the fields of project management, business administration, pharma sales representative, human resources, information technology and generic management.

The Group will predominantly focus on disabled learnerships in 2023, to build a talent pipeline of people who we believe can contribute meaningfully to both society and our group of companies, and who may not have as many opportunities available to other able body South Africans.
